The current Mercedes-Benz S-Class just recently got a mild refresh, but spy shots reveal that the company is already working on another redesign. From what we can tell, it will be another refresh of the current generation, but the front and rear fascias will be changed up much more, and they'll take design inspiration from the company's latest cars. In particular, it will borrow from the new CLS-Class and A-Class.

Up front, the grille and lights look much lower than those of the tall and proud current model. They also look more slender, especially the headlights. This results in the updated S-Class looking like a lower, wider car than it is. This design is already used by the CLS and the A-Class.

At the back, the S-Class takes another cue from the CLS in the layout of the taillights. The vertical-oriented units are gone in favor of slim horizontal lights. Again, these help to make the S-Class look lower and wider. As for the mid-section of the car, it looks mostly like the current car, hence why we believe this will just be a very minor refresh.

Since the S-Class was just recently updated, we're not expecting to see the production version of this S-Class for a couple of years, possibly in 2020. We also predict that the base twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 on the current model will be replaced by the turbocharged straight-6 found in the CLS450. The twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 though will certainly stick around.
